"Sis, I can't make it. I know he will do well. Let me know how it goes."
Talk soon. Give my well wishes to dad. Love ya later.

Give the poor guy a break. Obviously he doesn't "wish he could make it".
my sister texted me last night with an invitation to watch our dad give his first ever public talk.
i don't live particularly near to my family, but i'm not too far from them to make the journey, and i am on good terms with them, having never been baptised and so not disfellowshipped; they don't shun me and likely wouldn't even if i were disfellowshipped, it's not in their character.. i haven't been inside a kingdom hall since 2006, and i would like to keep it that way; i only intend to step inside one again in the event of a family wedding or funeral service.
i don't want to be rude to my sister, ignoring the text isn't an option, so i need a diplomatic way of declining her invitation.. i've considered saying that i'm busy, but this leaves things open for her to ask again in the future, and i'd rather she got the message that i'm not interested, without me having to say so in an explicit way.. any suggestions from those who have been in a similar situation?.

Kinda related, I saw the Clash before they became pop. Missed these guys though. I like it. Now my perspective on you will change. Thanks.
solo: i could have done without it.
lead actor has no charisma.
if you love star wars i guess you have to see it.
This is just sad. I guess I'll give up on starting topics and eat some worms.
there have been many tv programs all the way back to candid camera which set people up for pranks.
it was all in good fun and the results were shown only if a legal release was signed allowing the prank to be broadcast.getting permission after-the-fact was essential, otherwise, you've wasted your efforts.ahhhh, but what about public figures who are legally exempted from the necessary "permission" form agreement?is an ambush set-up fair or even ethical?the answer we give depends on how much we love or hate the victim!if we really, really dislike certain public figures there's a tendency to want to see them embarrassed and exposed as buffoons, idiots, hypocrites, and fools.on the other hand, consider this.
in a nation as divided as is america along color lines, political factions, and social "correctness" concerns--are we lighting a fuse by going too far?____why am i asking this question?i watched this preview and found myself torn.
Much of Sacha Cohen I've seen didn't strike me as funny. Whether I like or don't like the person played, I think its all fair game. Wounded vet, big fricken deal. I bet they could give a rat's ass he pretended to be one. Let's face it, good ol'Sarah isn't the brightest bulb and fell for it pretty hard. Her ego and a chance to be in front of a camera and talk stupid probably was very satisfying. Even good ol' Cheney went for it. Cohen didn't seem to ask many libs it seems? Maybe they aren't so quick to take the bait? Probably watch more HBO and know who they're up against?
a very strange article, suggestive.. what do you think about it?.

I've seen a few:
Solo: I could have done without it. Lead actor has no charisma. If you love Star Wars I guess you have to see it. It was just ok for me.Heredity: Voted scariest movie in years by all reviewers. Obviously they all have stock in the movie company. People actually laughed at the "scariest" movie. If you can believe an 18 year old young man calling out "Mommy" have at it. Truly one of the biggest fails all summer for me. Would not have seen it if I knew the truth of the quality.
Jurassic World; fallen kingdom: Guess what? Yep, they get loose again. Ugh. Just not different enough from all the others to hold my interest. Maybe you'll like it, who knows?
Ocean's 8. Slept for first 10 minutes, awoke to ask what the point was and after being told zoned back out. It was a trite little exercise with characters I didn't care for.
Skyscraper: The audience applauded at the end. I was pleasantly surprised. No sex, no swearing... just people killed like cord wood. It had humor, humility and action. Poor man has to run the gamet to get the job done against typical bad guys. There's a nice switch in the main character that makes him so easy to have empathy for. I recommend it for an hour and a half of air conditioning and a nice romp in a burning building. A hint, his wife is no wimp.
Ant and the Wasp: Haven't seen the first one, didn't need to. If you like Marvel this is a sort of crumb on the carpet of the Marvel universe. It shouldn't be relegated thus. It was very funny and had a captivating story. Did I say funny?
Two out of three isn't bad. See for yourself. Movies are a nice way to keep cool. Have you seen any of these or others? How much do you disagree with me? Hide the daggers!
hi does anyone have any bad ministry experiences to share or really funny ones?.
some of mine were:.
- having water sprayed on us with a hose.
Shot at by an angry householder with a shotgun as we ran to drive the long driveway back to the road.
Said, "Hello sir" to the man behind the dark screen door. Turned out to be a woman with a husky voice.
Offered Awake on lung cancer to woman at door after pointing out dangers of second hand smoke. She said, "I have stage 4 lung cancer and no one in my family smokes or smoked. No thanks."
Was with a ten year old boy at the door. No one would answer. They were laughing on the other side of the window next to the door and making rude comments. I kept knocking till a girl answered. I opted for the shame approach. I said, "Have you noticed the disrespectful attitude of young people towards adults and children who take their personal free time to bring good news, something positive to them? Its really sad that they are so self centered and disrespectful. What do you think?" Always leave a question baby! She took the magazines, lol. The boy asked me, "Is that what you always say?"
I answered: "Never do that."
can someone direct me to jw refutations of the harsh criticisms of charles russell and judge rutherford that are on the internet and youtube?
i am a fair person and insist on hearing both sides to a controversy.
in this case, i would like to know what traditional yw responds to such personal criticisms and alleged changes in beliefs.
Its almost not worth the effort to expose Russell and Rutherford. They have lost their place among WT greats. Russell is now a footnote, Rutherford merely a gate keeper. Nothing they taught except 1914 holds water for the modern GB. All the rest were merely two overzealous men making mistakes. They were not the governing body.
greetings, friends:.
my trusty and very old dell died a few days ago; a friend's gift of a toshiba has gotten me here.
fortunately, it uses windows 7 like my old pc.
Returning from the outer darkness is a true miracle. Well done!
i know of three situations i saw myself.
the first one was when i lived in arcadia.
all the people i use names on are dead and gone so no probs.
Of course there are no self declared homosexuals in the congregations. I would hate to make accusations that weren't correct. There was a brother in the circuit who gave the talk on family life who sounded more like a girl than a man, very effeminate. Then again, Mike Tyson doesn't sound much like a man and he's never questioned for being gay. So, no. All the gays hid it too well.
